Fredrick O. "Bud" Sweeney, age 80 of Brodhead, WI, formerly of Juda, WI, passed away at his home on Friday, July 17, 2009, surrounded by his family. He was born December 16, 1928 in Argyle, WI, the son of Glen and Leona (Ethridge) Sweeney. Bud attended Argyle School. He was united in marriage to Lois Thompson on June 12, 1948 in Monroe, WI. Bud lived in the Argyle area until 1962, when they moved to Juda. He was a Professional Truck Driver for fifty years and after eighteen years of working at Swiss Colony he retired in 1995.
Bud is survived by his wife: Lois; five children: Shirley (David) Leck of Juda, WI, Connie Meighan of Topock, AZ, Wayne (Debra) Sweeney of Browntown, WI, Sharon (Robert) James of Monroe, WI, Randy (Tami) Sweeney of Janesville, WI; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; and one great- grandson on the way; two brothers: Robert (Lela) Sweeney of Sparta, WI, and Russell Sweeney of Winslow, IL; and three sisters: Doris Fox of Brodhead, WI, Joyce (Jack) Young of Wiota, WI, and Lois Walters of Dayton, WI He was preceded in death by his parents: one brother: Ronald Sweeney on December 6, 2008; one sister: Betty Schnulle on December 13, 1996; and one great-granddaughter: Samantha Meighan in 2006.
Bud enjoyed woodworking and reading. He and Lois made many yard ornaments and other things for several years. Bud loved to ride around the country and find "back to nature trails."
Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at 8:00 p.m. at Erickson Funeral Home, 60 Breeze Terrace in Argyle, WI, with Rev. Craig Conklin officiating. Private burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. A visitation will be Tuesday, July 21, 2009, from 5:00 p.m. until the time of services at Erickson Funeral Home.
