Frederick W. "Bud" Wirth, 90, of Janesville, passed away at his home Wednesday, May 4, 2011, surrounded by his family. He was born in Monticello, WI on August 30, 1920, the son of William Frederick and Alma (Blum) Wirth. He graduated from Monticello High School and attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Bud married Rachel Judd on November 4, 1939 in Dubuque, IA. He served in the U. S. Navy from September 24, 1943 to February 3, 1946. Bud was employed by the H. L. Karlen and Sons automobile dealership in Monticello for several years. After moving to Janesville he was employed by Wisconsin Power & Light Company (Alliant Energy) for 23 years where he was foreman of the garage. He was a member of Cargill United Methodist Church for over 55 years and had served as an usher. He was a long-time member of the American Legion, enjoyed bowling, playing baseball, fishing, camping and traveling. Bud's greatest passion was enjoying time spent with his family.
Surviving are his wife of over 71 years, Rachel Wirth; 1 son, Barry (Carol) Wirth of Janesville; 2 grandsons, Eric (Lynnette) Wirth, Janesville, and Andrew (Angie) Wirth of Lake Park, MN; 3 great-granddaughters, Tiereny Wirth, Kelsey Wirth and Kaitlin Wirth; 1 great-great-granddaughter, Chloe-Ana; 1 great-great-grandson, Hunter; 1 niece, Renee Tertin; and 2 cousins, Karl and Karen Wirth of Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 sister, Jolanda Tertin; and 1 nephew, Michael Tertin.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at Cargill United Methodist Church, 2000 Wesley Avenue, Janesville. Rev. Forrest Wells will officiate. Entombment will be in Milton Lawns Memorial Park Mausoleum. Military rites will be conducted by Kienow-Hilt V.F.W. Post # 1621. Visitation times will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, May 9 at Henke-Clarson Funeral Home, 1010 N. Wright Rd., Janesville and at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to HospiceCare, Inc. or Cargill United Methodist Church.
