State authorities have announced the arrest in Indiana of a former Rock County Sheriff’s deputy on multiple child sexual assault charges.

The former deputy, Gary A. Huber, age 34, was taken into custody in Fort Wayne, Ind. on Dec. 13 for multiple child sexual assault charges, according to a statement from the Wisconsin Dept. of Justice’s department of criminal investigation.

The complaint says that Huber allegedly assaulted multiple underage children between 2010 and 2016.

As a result, Huber is charged with one count of first-degree child sexual assault — sexual contact with a child under age 13, one count of repeated sexual assault of a child, three counts of child enticement, two counts of causing a child under age 13 to view/listen to sexual activity; and three counts of exposing genitals, pubic area, or intimate part.

This investigation was led by the DCI. The Rock County District Attorney’s Office, however, is prosecuting. Rock County Sheriff Troy Knudson declined to comment but did issue a press release.

That release states that in July Huber resigned his post as a Rock County deputy to avoid an “internal investigation.” As of Tuesday, it appeared that Huber was denied bond and remained in the Allen County Indiana Jail, according to court records there.

Huber is scheduled for an extradition hearing there for 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 28.
