Floyd O. Pence

Floyd O. Pence, age 76, of Monico, died Saturday, November 8, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital following a long illness. Floyd was born November 1, 1932 in Bundy, the son of Walter and Bertha (Patrick) Pence. He attended Gross School. Floyd joined the Army and served during the Korean Conflict. He earned the National Defense Service Medal, the UN Service Medal, and the Korean Service Medal. He married the former Elizabeth "Betty" Roberts on December 11, 1965. Floyd enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time. He took the grandkids on a bike ride from time to time on trails.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; stepson, George "Butch" (Cheryle) Rank, Monico; eight brothers and sisters, Dolores Mikkelson, Albany, WI, Lillie Mae (Leon) Burris, Mabank, Texas, Jane Myer, Dallas, Texas, Charles (Elaine) Pence, Brooklyn, WI, Sam (Pat) Pence, Venus, Texas, Virginia Groves, Ferris, Texas, Leonard Pence, Albany, WI, and Vercia Keller, Baraboo, WI; 10 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Bill, Russell, and Fran; a sister, Dorothy Mikkelson; and a stepdaughter, Susan (Rank) Monk.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at the Hildebrand-Russ Funeral Home, Rhinelander, with Deacon Mathew "Chuck" Porten officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Tuesday.

Inurnment will be at a later date.
