LENA - Fern E. Holmes, age 94, passed away on January 1, 2011 at the Angelus Retirement Community in Monroe, WI. She was born on August 1, 1916 in Waddams Grove Township to Joseph and Lizzie (Moyer) Solace. Fern married LaVerne on December 22, 1938 in Winslow, IL. They farmed for 35 years in the Orangeville area and Fern was a hard working farm wife. Fern was very family orientated and enjoyed taking care of people. She was a member of Grace Free Bible Church in Winslow and the Friendship Center in Lena.

Fern is survived by 2 Sons; Ronald (Susan) Holmes of Freeport, IL and Steve (Ranee) Holmes of Edgerton, WI. 7 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Sister; Dorothy Shadle of Lena. IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband LaVerne on October 22, 2002 and 1 sister; Thelma Ferguson.

Funeral services will be on Thursday January 6, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Leamon Funeral Home in Lena.

Visitation will be from 4:00 till 8:00 PM on Wednesday January 5, 2011 at the Leamon Funeral Home.

A luncheon will follow the Funeral service at the Lena American Legion in Lena prior to the interment.

Interment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

Officiating will be Pastor Bob Patin.

A memorial has been established for the Grace Free Bible Church in Winslow.
