DIXON, Ill. - Fentie Johnson Welsh, 95, of Punta Gorda, FL, died on November 10, 2009. She was born on February 25, 1914, in Lee County, IL and was a lifelong resident of Dixon, IL, until moving to Florida.
Fentie belonged to the First Baptist Church of Dixon, Daughters of the American Revolution, the Lee County Genealogy Society, Lee County Council on Aging, and the Reagan Home Auxiliary. One of the things of which she was most proud was being a classmate of Ronald Reagan. She was privileged to attend his inauguration and the opening of the Reagan Presidential Library in California.
She is survived by her children, Faun (Jack) Hill, Punta Gorda, FL, Ronald (Beverly) Johnson, Monroe, WI; stepdaughters, Maxine (Gus) Voss, Naperville, IL, Delores (Ed) Moore, Mt. Morris, IL, and step-daughter-in-law, Donna Welsh, Moline, IL. Fentie had eight grandchildren, including Ray (Ginny) Johnson, Wiota, WI, Steve Johnson, Monroe, WI, Jeff (Lyn) Johnson, Bangor, WI, Paul (Bridget) Johnson, Aurora, IL, Eric (Amy Troxell) Johnson, Monroe, WI, Val Johnson, Coral Springs, FL, Julie Doyle, Batavia, IL and Christie Fluegel, of AZ. She is further survived by several step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, which include Ray Jr. and Ryan Johnson, Jeremiah, Tanner and Sawyer Johnson, Nicholas and Catherine Johnson, and Payton Johnson. Additionally, several special nieces and nephews survive her. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and seven siblings.
The funeral will be at the First Baptist Church in Dixon, IL at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 21, 2009 with graveside services at Oakwood Cemetery followed by a luncheon at the church. Visitation will be at the Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, November 20, 2009.
