F. A. "Fritz" Teutschmann, age 82 of Darlington, WI, passed away Monday, April 19, 2010, at Lafayette Manor in Darlington. He was born March 11, 1928 in Shullsburg, WI, the son of Christian and Lydia (Ubersox) Teutschmann. Fritz graduated from Shullsburg High School in 1946. He farmed in Shullsburg Township until 1963, when he went to work for Barber-Coleman in Rockford, IL and later for John Deere in Dubuque, IA. Fritz was united in marriage to Mary Louise McGowan on November 20, 1973 at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Darlington. In 1982, he took the custodial position at Lafayette County Court House in Darlington retiring in 1993.
Fritz is survived by his wife: Mary Louise of Darlington; eight children: Patricia (Kenneth) Gratz of Monroe, WI, Sharon Kast of Darlington, Michael (Doris) Teutschmann of Shullsburg, Larry (Roselyn) Teutschmann of Platteville, WI, Ted (Cindy) Teutschmann of Shullsburg, Tina (Joel) Ames of Lancaster, WI, Tari (Marv) Weber of Independence, IA, and Tami (Boyd) Bailey of Sextonville, WI; eight step-children: Peggy (Don) Davis of Oklahoma City, OK, Michael (Patti) McGowan of Black River Falls, WI, Kay (Dave) Hay of South Wayne, WI, Charmaine Neeley of Ellsworth, WI, Rebecca (John) Troy of Benton, WI, Patrick (Jean) McGowan of Blanchardville, WI, Kelly (Frank) Meier of Darlington, and Tim McGowan of Manawa, WI; 45 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; three brothers: Godfrey Teutschmann of Darlington, Jake (Barb) Teutschmann and Frank (Margaret) Teutschmann, both of Shullsburg; one sister: Mary Lindsay of rural Darlington; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter: Michelle Kast; one brother: Robert "Bill" Teutschmann; one son-in-law: Dave Taylor; and one step-son-in-law: Bill Neeley.
Fritz was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Darlington. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing cards, woodworking, and jigsaw puzzles.
Funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, April 26, 2010, at Immanuel United Church of Christ, 339 East Louisa Street in Darlington with Rev. Kathleen Rinear officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery in Darlington. A visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 25, 2010, at Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington.
