Evelyn A. Hendrickson, age 78 of Brodhead, WI, formerly of Monroe, WI, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at Caring Hands Home in Brodhead, WI. She was born October 29, 1930 in Excelsior, WI, the daughter of Rayburn and Ileen (Lightfoot) Powell. Evelyn graduated from Gays Mills High School in 1948 and later received her teaching certificate from LaCrosse Teacher's College and Platteville Teacher's College. She was united in marriage to Paul Hendrickson on December 21, 1952 in Gays Mills, WI. They lived in Argyle, WI, where she taught at Meadowbrook School in Green County from 1952 until 1956 and she also taught at Latin School in Lafayette County. She then began working as an Occupational Therapist Assistant at Green County Home near Monroe. On August 5, 1968, she began working for Swiss Colony where she was a filing supervisor in various departments in Monroe and Madison, retiring on March 31, 1995. Evelyn also worked as a hostess and waitress in Monroe at the Idle Hour Mansion, Maple Grove, and Turner Hall.

Evelyn is survived by two sons: William (Janice) Hendrickson of Janesville, WI, and Jon Leuenberger of Pittsburgh, PA; and four grandchildren: Laura and Paul Hendrickson and Jack and Ethan Leuenberger. She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, John Oppriecht; her husband, Paul on February 6, 1965; and one brother, John Powell.

Evelyn was a member of the New Apostolic Church in Monroe, WI. She enjoyed reading romance novels.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2009 at New Apostolic Church, 2404 11th Avenue in Monroe, WI with Rev. Ray Schoeller officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Argyle, WI. Visitations will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, July 31, 2009 at the Erickson Funeral Home in Argyle and from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the New Apostolic Church on Saturday, August 1, 2009.
