Ethel M. Hollister
Ethel M. Hollister, 93, of Freeport died Thursday March 3, 2011 at FHN Memorial Hospital Freeport. Born September 4, 1917 in Kent, she was the daughter of Guy and Elsie (Backus) Alston. She and Ivan L. Hollister were united in marriage on May 10, 1941 he preceded her in death in 1964. Ethel worked as a switch operator for Northwest Telephone Company and then for Micro Switch retiring in 1982. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Freeport. Surviving are two sons Curtis (Patricia) Hollister of Freeport, Steven (Carol) Hollister of Morrison; eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; special friends Gerald and Cheryl Rausch. Preceding her in death were her husband, four brothers, and one grandson Eric. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Tuesday at Walker Mortuary with the Reverend Dr. Katherine Paisley of First United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 4pm until 7pm and Tuesday 10 am until time of service at 11:00. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery and Mausoleum. A memorial has been established in her name for First United Methodist Church.
