MONROE - Emma C. Wenger, age 90, died Sunday, July 11, 2010 at Pleasant View nursing home. She was born on May 30, 1920 in South Wayne, the daughter of Albert and Mary (Rahberger) Wehinger. Emma married Roy Wenger on April 30, 1941 in Monroe. She worked as a Clerk for McLellans department store for many years. She belonged to St. Victors Catholic Church and was involved with the Apostolate to the Handicapped and St. Vincent De Paul. Emma also enjoyed playing cards, fishing, baking pies and spending time with her family.
She is survived by 3 sons: Jim (Janet) Wenger of Dakota, IL, Tom (Chris) Wenger of Juda and Bill Wenger of Evansville; 2 daughters: Joyce (Don) Brennan of Monroe and Sally (Kieth) Larson of Monroe; a daughter-in-law, Janet Wenger of Monroe; 19 grandchildren: 19 great grandchildren;2 sisters: Mary Gibbons and Rose Craigo, both of Monroe. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Son, Steve, 2 brothers, Robert and Frank Wehinger, and a sister, Margaret Davis.
A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at St. Victors Catholic Church, with Celebrant Fr. Michael Klarer. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. A visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service, at the Church. A memorial fund will be established in Emma's name. Shriner-Hager-Gohlke funeral home is assisting the family.
