On Saturday, April 23, 2011, Our Lord called Elwyn (Tom) L. Conners into heaven to be with his lovely wife Ruby. Tom lived much of his adult life in Evansville, WI and was 93 years old.
Tom was born on May 30th, 1917 in Hobson, Montana. He eventually moved to Albany Wisconsin. While living in Albany during the early 1930's, Tom would jump on a train heading west to return to his roots. He would ride the freight trains through the Midwest and returned to Hobson. While there, Tom would spend much of his time on his Aunt and Uncle's ranch rounding up up cattle and panning for gold in the mountains of Montana.
Eventually, Tom met Ruby F. Vreeland who would become Ruby Conners. For many of their years, Tom worked as a salesman at Heffel Chevrolet in Evansville and in 1971, Tom and Ruby bought the dealership from Jack Heffel and it became Conners Chevrolet and Oldsmobile.
Tom and Ruby were married 64 years and had 5 children. Tom is survived by Son, Steve and (Gloria) of Fort Smith, Arkansas, grandchildren Sue and (Dave) Gordon, Debbie and (George) Pulos, Karen and (Bill) Woodstock, Elizabeth and (Cory) Reynolds, and Emily Conners. Daughter, Roberta (Bobbie) and Joe Bradley of Evansville, grandchildren Carrie and (Chad) Ronnander, Tara and (Jim) Williams, Lauren and (Angie) Bradley and Adam and (Emily) Bradley. Son, Doug and (Margo) Conners of West Bend, WI, grandchildren Brian and (Emily) Fuerstenberg and Jason and (Lisa) Fuersetenberg. Daughter, Kate Conners and (Pam Ampferer) of St. Paul, MN. Son, Mick and (Kimi) Conners of Columbus, WI, Grandchildren, Jonathan Conners, Karli Hess and Sydney Hess. Tom had 14 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandchild, along with many nieces and nephews.
Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Conners of Evansville, son Thomas Girard, his Mother, Hazelle Brown Conners (McClean) of Pendleton, Oregon, his Father, Lauren Conners of Albany, WI, his Sister, Dorothy Briggs of Albany and Half-Brothers, Burdette and Merceil McLean of Pendleton, Oregon.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday April 28, 2011 at St. Paul's Catholic Church Evansville Wisconsin with Reverend Kevin Dooley officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery Evansville. A visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Wednesday April 27, 2011 at the Ward Funeral Home Evansville, Wisconsin.
Tom was a proud Irishman who loved life and people. He will be missed, but his legacy, stories and memories will live on for generations to come.
