Elna M. Buehler, age 97 of Monroe, died peacefully at her home on Sunday, November 9, 2008. Elna was born June 20, 1911 in Clarno Township, the daughter of Otto and Cora (Lichtenwalner) Pinnow. She attended Enterprise Rural School in Clarno Township. Elna married Sam C. Buehler on December 12, 1934 at Grace Lutheran Church in Monroe. He preceded her in death on December 4, 1999.
Elna and Sam farmed in Cadiz Township from 1939 until retiring and moving to Monroe in 1984.
She was a member of Peace United Church of Christ in Browntown and the Green County Homemakers.
She enjoyed gardening and baking.
Elna is survived by a sister, Gertrude Waelti of Monroe; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Hilda Leuenberger in 1975.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 13, 2008, at the NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, Monroe, with Rev. Raymond Sowersby officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. Following the service light refreshments will be served at the St. Clare Friedensheim main floor activity room. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund will be established in Elna's name.
