PLATTEVILLE - Eleanor F. Balbach, 93, of Platteville, formerly of Warren, Illinois, died on Monday, January 26, 2009 at Southwest Health Center Nursing Home, Cuba City.

Eleanor was born on May 6, 1915 in Browntown, Wisconsin, the daughter of Benjamin and Denva (Keller) Jones. She grew up in South Wayne, Wisconsin and graduated from South Wayne High School. She was united in marriage to Clifton Balbach on November 30, 1939, in Warren, Illinois. He preceded her in death on November 16, 2001. She and Clifton farmed north of Warren, Illinois in Gratiot Township, Lafayette County for 44 years. After retiring from farming they moved to Warren. She was a member of the Warren and Platteville United Methodist Churches, the Eastern Star, and Lafayette County Homemakers.

Eleanor is survived by two sons, Glen (Carol) Balbach of Platteville, WI, and Phil (Heidi) Balbach, Blue Mounds, WI; six grandchildren, Stephanie Fullerton, Michelle (Brian) Olson, Tim (Stacey) Balbach, Linda (Rick) Dotson, Craig (Nancy) Balbach, Vicki (Steve) Selz; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death also by her parents, and two brothers, V. Maynard and Thomas Jones.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, January 30, 2008 at the Platteville United Methodist Church. Rev. Wendy Christianson will officiate. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Warren, Ill. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Melby-Bendorf Funeral Home, Platteville, where there will be an Order of the Eastern Star service at 7:30 p.m.; friends may also call from noon until the time of the service on Friday at the church. Memorials may be made to the Eleanor F. Balbach Memorial Fund. The Melby-Bendorf Funeral Home, Platteville, is serving the family.
