MONTICELLO - Edwin H. Kernen, age 76 of Monticello, died Monday, October 25, 2010 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital. Ed was born February 12, 1934 in Barneveld, WI, the son of John and Hilda (Klassy) Kernen. He attended Lewis Rural School and on October 8, 1955 he married Helen Krause at the Zwingli United Church of Christ, Monticello.

Ed farmed in Mt. Pleasant Township until moving into Monticello in August, 1977. He then worked for Studer Super Service in Monroe, Edelweiss Country Club, and the Swiss Colony before retiring in 2008. He was a member of the Zwingli U.C.C., was an avid bowler, golfer, and enjoyed playing cards.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Kernen of Monticello; two daughters, Connie (Bill) Anderson of Monticello, and Carmen (Ken) Humes of Tampa, FL; three grandsons, Charles (Waunita),

Randall, and Anthony Anderson; two greatgrandchildren, Charles Jr. and Jazmin; his sister, Lucille Rupnow of Monroe; many special nieces and nephews; and his granddog, Spanky.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Clarence (Phyllis) Kernen, and Freddy John Kernen in infancy; and a brother-in-law, Everette Rupnow.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 29, 2010, at 11:00 a.m., at Zwingli United Church of Christ, Monticello, with Rev. Lawrence Balleine officiating. Interment will be in Highland Cemetery, Monticello. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established in Edwin's name.
