Edwin H. Blum age 83 of Monticello, died Monday, February 18, 2013 at the New Glarus Home. Edwin was born July 28, 1929 on the Blum home farm in Washington Township, the son of Herman C. and Edna (Streiff) Blum. In his younger years he enjoyed helping on the farm and more recently he worked part time at the Monticello House and the M&M Restaurant. He resided at the Wittwer Apartments in Monticello for many years. Edwin was a loyal member of Zwingli United Church of Christ where he sang in the choir, was an avid Monticello Pony basketball fan, and was a former Monticello Homecoming Marshall.

He is survived by a sister, Kathryn (Kenneth) Glass of Janesville and five nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Nona Austin and Caroline Carson; and a brother in infancy.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, February 21, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., at the Zwingli United Church of Christ, Monticello, with Rev. Lawrence Balleine officiating. Inurnment will be in Highland Cemetery, Monticello. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be given in Edwin's name to the Zwingli Church. The Voegeli-Newcomer Funeral Home, Monticello, is assisting the family.
