E. Sylvester "Bubby" Halvorson age 85 of rural Darlington, WI passed away unexpectedly Saturday, December 4, 2010 surrounded by his family at Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County in Darlington. He was born the son of Herman and Myrtle (Thorson) Halvorson October 16, 1925 in Woodford, WI. He was united in marriage to Sharon A. Rogers on December 29, 1956 at the Little Brown Church Nashua, IA. They have celebrated over 53 years of marriage together. Bubby lived and farmed in the Darlington area all of his life. He shared his love of farming with his wife Sharon A. Rogers.

Bubby is survived by his wife, Sharon at home; three sons: Scott (Jean) Halvorson of Dodgeville, WI, and Kevin (Jeanne) Halvorson and Greg (Tammy) Halvorson both of Darlington; nine grandchildren: Gena, Tanya, Shanna, Carissa, Jessica, Aaron, Reid, Harley, and Allie; seven great-grandchildren: Brantley, Braden, Mason, Shyla, Chloe, Liam, and Colton; his brothers: Clinton (Pauline) Halvorson of Darlington, Edward Halvorson of Miles, IA, and Eldon Halvorson of Madison, WI; his sisters: Arlene Heins of Monroe, WI, Jeaneen (Bobby) Benson of Darlington, and Melva Jean "Lolly" Hank Tshanz and Idellis (Walt) McKillip both of Monroe; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson: Eric Halvorson; a brother-in-law: Guerdon Heins; and a sister-in-law: Phyllis Halvorson.

Bubby was a member of Pecatonica Valley Antique Club. He enjoyed gardening, and loved seeing his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Darlington United Methodist Church (546 Park Place, Darlington 53530) with Pastor Larry Hakes officiating. Burial will be at Miller Cemetery in Wiota, WI. A visitation will be held Tuesday, December 7, 2010 from 3:00 until 7:00 P.M. at Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington (508 Park Place, 130 West Cornelia Street for GPS users).

For those who prefer, a memorial has been established in Bubby's name.
