Dorothy Ann Lind Heagle, age 80 of Rock Falls, passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

Dorothy was born February 7, 1934 in Monroe, WI, the daughter of Herman and Viola (Trickel) Becker. Dorothy graduated from Monroe School High School in 1951. She graduated from St. Mary's School of Nursing in Madison in 1954. Dorothy married Gaylen Jerome Lind February 19, 1955 at St. Victor's Catholic Church in Monroe. After marriage, Dorothy and Gaylen moved to Durand, where Dorothy worked as a registered nurse at the Durand Hospital, (formerly St. Benedict's Hospital). In 1978, Dorothy and Gaylen moved to Rock Falls, and in 1979 she began work at Sacred Heart Hospital until retiring in 1996. During this time, Dorothy also worked at the family floral business, The Gay Chalet, in Durand and Eau Claire. In her retirement, Dorothy was an avid volunteer, offering her time at Sacred Heart Hospital; taking Holy Communion to the shut-ins and homebound, and she also sang with St. Henry's Polka Choir for 15 years. Dorothy loved to travel around the world, and especially cherished the memory of meeting Pope John Paul II in Rome. She enjoyed selecting special presents for the grandchildren from her many travels. Gaylen died in 1993 and Dorothy later married Robert Anson Heagle November 6, 1999 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Arkansaw and they made their home in Rock Falls.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Robert; eight children: Theresa (Don) Kane of Plum City, Kathryn (Glen) Nale of Eau Claire, Nancy (Randy) Weber of Eau Galle, Jerry Lind of Rock Falls, Mary Gay Enerson of Eau Claire, Gina (R.P.) Pelke of Arkansaw, Beth (Bren) Hartinger of Wausau, and Jennifer (Brian) Weiss of Durand; 15 grandchildren, four great grandchildren, three step daughters: Karen Heagle of Brooklyn, NY; Denise (Fred) Tillman of Oro Valley, AZ; Mary Heagle of Seattle, WA; two step grandchildren, two step great-grandchildren, nephew Randy (Darby) of Fairfax, VA, niece Tammy (Stephen) of Leesburg, VA, and their families; as well as many other beloved relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Gaylen.

Memorial services will be 11:00 AM Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Durand with Rev. Paul Bosco officiating, and burial immediately after in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
