Doral M. "Dutch" Ethridge, age 84 of Monroe, died Sunday, January 24, 2016 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. Doral was born on December 27, 1931 in Green County, the son of Cecil and Katherine (Gavigan) Ethridge. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1950. Doral entered the U.S. Army in September, 1950 and was stationed in Korea and Germany before his honorable discharge in September, 1953. He married Carol Kohl on January 18, 1964 in Dubuque, Iowa. Doral was employed at General Motors in Janesville for 37 years before retiring in 1989. He was a member of the Monroe V.F.W. #2312 and Monroe Moose Lodge #754.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carol Ethridge of Monroe; three sons, Mike (Diane) of La Crescent, MN, Steven (Jenny) of Austin, TX, Brian (Clarisse) of Middleton; a daughter, Julie Ethridge of Madison; grandsons, Aaron, Adam (Emily), Corey, Erich, Clark, and Mitchell Ethridge; three sisters, Theola Frang of Rockford, IL, Shirley Elmer of Monroe, and Margie Rufer of Billings, MO; a brother, Robert Ethridge of Monroe, and twin brother, Donald Ethridge of Pompano Beach, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Harold.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2016, at 11:00 a.m., at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe. Reverend Randy Booth of the Monroe United Methodist Church will officiate with a memorial luncheon to follow at the Monroe Moose Lodge. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 27, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established in Doral's name for the Alzheimer's and Dementia Alliance of Wisconsin.
