Delores A. Schwartzlow

Delores A. Schwartzlow was born December 15th, 1923 the third of five children to Aurell and Pherne (Murray) Vreeland in Evansville, Wisconsin. Her death occurred on April 26th, 2012 in Evansville, Wisconsin. She passed away being surrounded by family and friends.

Delores attended Evansville schools, graduating in 1941 from Evansville High School. During her high school career, she was very involved in music and was the drum majorette for the Evansville Marching Band. Her love for music continued, playing for several community bands over many years. July 28th, 1946, Delores married Frederick W. (Buzz) Schwartzlow of Brodhead, Wisconsin. Along with Buzz and Bob Turner, they operated the Union Street Truckstop and later, the Turner Schwartzlow Dealership. After her marriage of 29 years, she began a new chapter in her life filled with a wide circle of family and friends.

Through her early work as an Evansville telephone operator and later, as an assembler at Wisco Industries in Oregon, Wisconsin, Delores cultivated lasting friendships. Wonderful memories were made sharing breakfasts, pizzas, and cheese curds with her many friends as they traveled throughout Southern Wisconsin. As an avid reader and member of the Doubleday Book Club, her revolving book collection was shared among her friends, nieces, and nephews. Her love for the earth and animals was an important part of her life inspiring her to support the Humane Society and the Arbor Day Foundation. She loved to surround herself with her flowers and to garden. Delores will be lovingly remembered by her nieces, nephews and dear friends. A special thank you to Dawn and Ruth.

Delores was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick W. Schwartzlow; her sisters, Beulah (Ace) Allen, Ruby (Tom) Conners; brothers Vincent (Bud) Vreeland, and Don (Darlene) Vreeland.

Visitation will be held May 1, 2012 from 5-8 pm with a Rosary service at 7:30pm at the Ward Funeral Home in Evansville, Wisconsin. Funeral services will be held May 2,10:30 AM at the St. Pauls Catholic Church 39 Garfield Ave. Evansville. Burial will follow in the Maple Hill Cemetery. Memorials preferred.
