Mr. Eley attended Monroe schools and graduated from Monroe High School in 1948. David was a butcher at several grocery stores in Monroe including A & P, Brennan's and Sentry. He worked for the Monroe School District, and Lanz Sheet Metal & Heating. David retired at the age of 83 after working for Greenwood Cemetery mowing the lawn and repairing the equipment for about 20 years.
David was an avid bowler. He was a member of the Monroe Bowling Association and served as city secretary for many years. David was a director for the Wisconsin State Bowling Association beginning in 1982, became its President in 2001. His biggest achievement was induction into the Wisconsin State Bowling Hall of Fame in 2011.
David met and married the love of his life Mary Lynette Howard on November 20, 1953 in Dubuque, IA. They had 4 children, 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
David and his wife were avid Badger football fans and had season tickets for many years.
