David Frederick Fankhauser age 57 died Saturday September 1, 2012 at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg. He was born on January 27, 1955 in Dodgeville Wisconsin the son of Edward and Janet (Koch) Fankhauser. David lived at a REM group home in Madison and worked at MARC South in Madison for 20 years. He enjoyed people of all ages, visiting with family, going on day trips and going out to eat. He liked to be outdoors and loved to watch movies and listen to Johnny Cash. David especially looked forward to going to Badger Camp every year and never missed a year. He is survived by his mother Janet Fankhauser of Brodhead, a sister Rhoda Schuster of Madison, two brothers Ronald (Cindy) Fankhauser and Owen (Kathy) Fankhauser both of Brooklyn, nieces and nephews; Heidi, Dana, Ashley and Dustin Fankhauser, Heather and Michael Schuster, great nephews; Lennon Fankhauser, Benjamin Reyes and Gavin Voice, two aunts and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Edward in 1984. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday September 5, 2012 at the Ward Funeral Home Evansville with Reverend Bryan Peterson officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery Brooklyn. Friends may call from 11:00am until the time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the REM Group Home caregivers for their compassionate and loving care. The family also appreciates the wonderful care and support given to David by the U.W. Hospital and Agrace HospiceCare Staff. David will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
