MONTICELLO - Dale P. Kratzenberg, age 78, of rural Monticello passed away on Friday, August 31, 2012 at his home surrounded by family. He was born on August 13, 1934 in Frankfort, IL to his parents George and Emma (Heisner) Kratzenberg. Dale graduated from Bloom High School in 1952. On August 24, 1957 he was united in marriage to Mary Ann Heisner at St. Peter's Evangelical and Reformed Church in Frankfort. In 1971 Dale moved his family to Wisconsin to farm in the Town of Exeter. Dale loved farming and farmed his entire life. In 1988 Dale and Mary Ann hosted the Green County Dairy Breakfast on the Farm. He was a member of the Swiss United Church of Christ in New Glarus and lifetime member of the Holstein Association. Dale enjoyed sports both as an athlete and fan. He played baseball for many years and was a league bowler for fifty nine years. Dale also enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and telling jokes. Above all he loved and cherished his family.

Dale is survived by his wife Mary Ann of Monticello, WI, children Susan (Dan Dunwiddie) Homb of Monticello, WI, Richard (Nancy) Kratzenberg of Belleville, WI, and Scott Kratzenberg of Monticello, WI. He is further survived by his grandchildren Michael (Sarah) Kratzenberg, Aaron (Kirsten) Homb, and Adam (Ida Stevenson) Homb; great-grandchildren Isabelle and Abram Homb, and Ava Kratzenberg; a brother George (Delores) Kratzenberg of Monee, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Betty (Irvin) Holm, and an infant brother Martin.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home, 29 6th Ave., New Glarus, WI with the Rev. Craig Jan-McMahon officiating with burial in the Swiss Church Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 3, 2012 at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home in New Glarus.
