MONROE - A Freeport couple was arrested Thursday, May 3, after they returned to the business on Monroe's south side where they allegedly stole electric motors days earlier, according to police.

Jarrett J. Simons, 39, and his wife Jodi L. Simons, 43, are charged with stealing about 25 scrap motors on Sunday, April 29 from behind Green County Electric, Inc., 809 19th St.

The value of the motors is about $400 to $500, according to Chris Anderson, office manager at Green County Electric. He said video surveillance at the business led to the arrest of the pair.

On Thursday, while police were at Green County Electric investigating the case, the same vehicle alleged to have been involved in the April 29 theft was seen circling the business. The two were subsequently arrested.

Jarrett Simons was jailed; his wife was released pending court.

The incident remains under investigation. Police report that they are working to recover the stolen motors.
