MADISON - The Wisconsin Court of Appeals ruled Thursday that a Green County man was not able to withdraw a plea he entered into in 1999 in Green County Circuit Court.
Darrin Gruenberg, 38, pleaded no contest to three counts of burglary in 1999. He was originally charged with six counts of burglary and one count of bail jumping. The state recommended three consecutive five-year sentences. The court accepted Gruenberg's plea and the state's sentencing recommendation.
Gruenberg later appealed and said there wasn't enough factual information about two of the counts to which he pleaded guilty and said he was given misinformation about the third count.
The court dismissed one of the three counts and sentenced Gruenberg to 10 years in prison for the remaining two counts.
Gruenberg later filed an appeal to dismiss the other two charges. The appeal was not successful.
