CUBA CITY - Cletus E. Bainbridge, 81, of Cuba City, Wisconsin, died Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 13, 2008, at St. Rose of Lima Church in Cuba City with Rev. David Flanagan officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Benton. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Casey Funeral Home in Cuba City where the parish wake service will be at 2:45 p.m. Friends may also call from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Clete was born on October 29, 1926, in Benton, Wisconsin, the son of Cletus A. and Esther (Brockman) Bainbridge Sr. He married Joan Rooney on August 23, 1948, in Benton. Clete worked as an insurance agent for Prudential Insurance Company.

Clete was a member of the Benton Alumni Association, the Cuba City Lions Club, the Cuba City High School Basketball Program, and a charter member of the Benton VFW. He served on the Lafayette County Board of Supervisors.

Survivors include his wife, Joan; a daughter, Christine (Dennis) Grossen, of Browntown; four sons, Michael (special friend, Catherine Blakely) Bainbridge, of Monroe, Patrick (Donna) Bainbridge, of Verona; Terry (special friend, Brenda Cox) Bainbridge, of St. Louis, Missouri, and Thomas (special friend, Tonia) Bainbridge, of Cuba City; two sisters, Jean Hull, of Cuba City, and Barbara Meloy, of Platteville; six grandchildren, Mark, Lisa, Megan, Miranda, Carson, and Chandler; four great-grandchildren, Michael, Taylor, Kayla and Kaleb; and a brother-in-law, Daniel (Mercedes) Rooney.

In lieu of flowers, a Cletus E. Bainbridge Memorial Fund has been established.
