GREEN COUNTY
FELONIES
Kevin Patrick Schauer, 18, Brodhead, was charged Sept. 2 with felony bail jumping after he violated his bond from an August case of bail jumping and trespassing. According to a police report, on Sept. 1 Schauer was seen in contact with a person with whom he had broken into an abandoned school in Brodhead, in violation of a condition of his bond, which specified that Schauer have no contact with that person. Schauer's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 15.
Michael Wayne Evonovich, 25, Monroe, was charged Wednesday with felony charges of stealing a vehicle and fleeing an officer. The charges stem from an incident on Sept. 2, when the owner of a 1996 Toyota Tacoma stopped in the 1000 block of 5th Avenue in Monroe. The driver left his keys in the vehicle, as he only left his vehicle for a few minutes. In that time, Evonovich found the vehicle, entered it, and drove it away. Monticello Police eventually found the vehicle and pursued it as Evonovich attempted to elude officers. After being stopped, Evonovich gave no reason for the theft other than that he had had a fight with his girlfriend. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 11.
Ryan Michael Richardson, 32, Brodhead, was charged Tuesday with two felony counts of bail jumping, a misdemeanor count of handling a firearm while intoxicated and four misdemeanor counts of bail jumping. The charges stem from an incident on Aug. 31, when he was found in the AmericInn in Monroe in possession of an AR-15 rifle, several cases of ammunition, knives and several bottles of alcohol. A cab driver reported to police that Richardson had gone to a gun store to buy rifle magazines, a liquor store, and a tractor supply store to buy ammunition before returning to his hotel room. Richardson then said he only had 14 days left to live, with no further explanation. However, when police confronted him, he claimed he had no suicidal or homicidal inclinations, but was worried that "people" wanted to kill him because he had "punched a Mexican," according to a police report. Richardson's actions violated his bond from a drunk driving charge on Aug. 30 in two ways: he consumed alcohol, which was prohibited, and he committed a crime. His bonds from two misdemeanor cases - bail jumping on Aug. 30 and domestic abuse on July 6 - were similarly violated. He will next appear in court for a bond hearing on Sept. 9.
