Lafayette County
Misdemeanors
Amanda Lynn Penniston, 32, Argyle, pleaded guilty and was granted a six-month deferred prosecution Aug. 26 on a Class B misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct, stemming from a domestic dispute with her husband in their home on South State Street in April. She is ordered to pay the court $343 and not drink or go into bars or liquor stores. She must also complete a behavioral health assessment.
Susan Rose Helton, 24, Boscobel, was sentenced Aug. 28 to 11 months in jail for revoking her probation on misdemeanor convictions of theft and of criminal trespass to a dwelling and to property. She is convicted of kicking in a neighbor's door on West Center Street in South Wayne in July 2012 and stealing a few cans of beer. Court records indicate she revoked her probation by huffing from a Duster can in June while in her car, getting "very high," vomiting and wetting her pants, then lying to her probation officer about the incident. The agent concluded Helton "continues to abuse drugs and has not been honest about her use. Treatment is best sought in a structured setting."
