Taylor Marie Yaun, 17, Monroe, was granted a one-year deferred prosecution on a Class A misdemeanor charge of neglecting a child. Court records indicate Yaun left her 23-month-old daughter home alone in March because she "had plans" with her boyfriend and no babysitter was available to watch the toddler. Conditions of Yaun's agreement include counseling, completing an interactive parenting class and submitting her high school report card and proof of attendance to the court.
Rashon Jamal Howard, 27, Madison, pleaded no contest Sept. 5 to a Class A misdemeanor charge of obstructing an officer and was sentenced to 30 days in jail. A misdemeanor charge of cocaine possession was dismissed but "read in" to his sentence. The charges stem from an investigation into a traffic accident May 3 in the N9300 block of Wisconsin 69 in New Glarus Township. Court records indicate he lied to an officer about who was driving at the time of the accident.
Caleb Zachary Lyle, 21, Albany, was granted a one-year deferred prosecution Sept. 5 on a Class A misdemeanor charge of bail jumping, with the conditions that he undergo counseling for drug abuse and attend quarterly monitoring conferences. The charge stems from an incident June 5 in Madison outside a BP gas station on Mohawk Drive. Authorities were called to the area for a possible overdose and reported finding Lyle with a baggie of heroin, one used syringe, nine unused syringes, a tin cup with burn residue and a blue rubber band, in violation of a bond condition that he not possess drug paraphernalia. On Sept. 5, Lyle also pleaded no contest to a downgraded forfeiture charge of heroin possession and was fined $330.50.
Leanne K. Ostrander, 40, Monroe, was charged Sept. 6 with a Class A misdemeanor count of fraudulently using of a financial transaction card. Court records indicate that between Jan. 26 and May 18, while employed as a caregiver for an elderly Monroe woman, she used the woman's Kwik Trip store charge card without permission and racked up $744 in unauthorized charges. A plea of not guilty is entered in the case. Ostrander has a pre-trial conference scheduled Nov. 5. Her signature bond is set at $750, with the conditions that she have no contact with the woman or her residence.

Robert J. Sanders, 24, Rockford, pleaded no contest Sept. 5 to a Class I felony count of failing to pay child support for a period longer than four months in 2011. Two similar counts were dismissed. Sanders is sentenced to two years of probation, with the conditions that he pay the court $552.20, maintain full-time employment and undergo any treatment or counseling his agent deems necessary. The court authorized the transfer of his probation to the State of Illinois.
Erin Kimball Tollefson, 43, Albany, was charged Sept. 10 with two felony counts of second-degree sexual assault with use of force, felony counts of false imprisonment, battery and strangulation and suffocation, plus misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct and battery. The charges stem from an incident Sept. 8 at his home on West Nichols Street in Albany. Court records indicate he swore at and called a woman names, shoved her onto a bed by her throat, threw her facedown on the floor, pulled her arm until the joint popped out, pulled her hair violently and attempted to have vaginal and anal intercourse with her, then laughed at her while wiping blood from his bloody nose on her face. An officer who arrived later at the scene noted that Tollefson was "very intoxicated." Tollefson's signature bond is set at $4,500 and his cash bond is set at $500, with the conditions that he not drink or go into bars or liquor stores or have contact with the woman or the residence. His preliminary hearing is Sept. 17.
