LAFAYETTE COUNTY
FELONIES
Patrick Joseph Allen, 23, Argyle, and Timothy Allen Fitzsimons, 26, Darlington, were charged Sept. 15 with theft and criminal damage to property after the pair stole and destroyed an inmate's property while serving time in the Lafayette County Jail. The two were recorded on jail security cameras stealing the dentures of a fellow inmate. According to police reports, Allen acted on behalf of Fitzsimons to steal the dentures and bring them back to their shared cell, where they smashed the dentures and flushed their remains down the cell toilet. The owner of the dentures said they cost approximately $3,000. The perpetrators did not explain why they broke them. Allen's initial appearance will take place Oct. 5, while Fitzsimons' will take place Nov. 1.
Jeffrey T. Foley, 57, Rewey, was charged Sept. 21 with two Class H felony counts of timber theft and three forfeiture charges of harvesting timber without notification. The charges stem from a series of incidents between Nov. 1, 2015, and April 9 of this year. According to police reports, Foley repeatedly removed felled and damaged trees from farms throughout Lafayette County without providing proper notice to the county, although Foley evidently had permission from the property owners to remove the trees. However, on two occasions in April of this year, Foley also cut trees that were unapproved by the property owners, leading to the charges of timber theft. Foley said these cases were accidental - in the first case, on April 7, the property owner saw Foley cutting the wrong trees, whereupon he stopped; and in the second case, Foley cut trees belonging to a neighboring property, whereupon he informed the property owner of his mistake. Foley's initial appearance is scheduled for Oct. 17.
Troy Jamison Deiter, 40, Janesville, was charged Oct. 3 with failing to update the state sex offender registry, a Class H felony. Deiter was convicted in 2000 on a charge of third-degree sexual assault. He was required to update his registration with the sex offender registry in June of this year; however, he repeatedly failed to do so. His initial appearance is scheduled for Nov. 7.
