LAFAYETTE COUNTY
FELONIES
Brandon Allen Loken, 26, Platteville, was sentenced Oct. 21 to three years in prison and four years of probation after pleading guilty to two Class H felony counts of possessing paraphernalia for the manufacture of methamphetamine and disposing of methamphetamine waste. Loken was charged after police investigated a methamphetamine lab in the 28300 block of Wis. 11, Town of Benton, operated by members of the Latin Kings gang. A former Latin Kings member informed police that most of the members who operated the lab were in prison, but Loken, who was responsible for manufacturing the drugs, was still at the residence. Another gang member involved in the lab was sentenced to a year in prison on Oct. 14, and the alleged leader of the lab, Christopher Bennett, has a sentencing hearing scheduled for Dec. 16.
MISDEMEANORS
Kevin R. Hoffman, 24, Mineral Point, was fined $330.50 after pleading no contest Wednesday, Oct. 21 to a charge of disorderly conduct, amended from a misdemeanor charge of bail jumping. The charge stems from an incident on Dec. 24, 2014, when police responded to a custody dispute between a woman and Hoffman. According to police records, conditions of a previous bond prohibit Hoffman from approaching the woman or her workplace in the 100 block of South Main Street in Darlington, but had twice entered her workplace Dec. 23, 2014, forcing the woman to hide in the manager's office to avoid confronting him. The next day, she reported his violations to the police after he refused to give up the child.
Justin J. Nelson, 27, Argyle, was sentenced to six months in jail for revoking his probation on separate misdemeanor convictions from 2014 of criminal trespassing and disorderly conduct. Court records indicate Nelson violated his probation during an incident on Aug. 12 at a Blanchardville residence when he threatened a woman and damaged her property by punching through drywall and overturning shelves. When police came to apprehend him, Nelson resisted arrest, attempting to kick, bite and spit upon officers during a struggle.
