FELONIES

• The court Thursday scheduled a Dec. 30 district attorney conference for Nolan S. Vancourt, 23, Monroe, who pleaded not guilty to two counts of strangulation and suffocation, two counts of battery and one count of disorderly conduct.

Court records allege he argued with a woman, tore up her money and choked her Oct. 1 at a Monroe residence.

He is charged with two counts of strangulation and suffocation, both class H felonies; two counts of battery, both class A misdemeanors; and disorderly conduct, a class B misdemeanor. He faces more than 13 years in prison and up to $41,000 in fines, if convicted.

He remains free on a $4,800 signature bond and a $200 cash bond.

In a second case, the court scheduled a Dec. 30 district attorney conference for Vancourt after he pleaded not guilty to two counts of bail jumping, criminal damage to property and two counts of disorderly conduct.

Court records allege he had contact with the victim in the previous case, drank alcohol, broke her phone and pushed her to the ground.

He is charged with two counts of bail jumping, both class H felonies; criminal damage to property and intimidation of a victim, both class A misdemeanors; and two counts of disorderly conduct, both class B misdemeanors. He faces more than 13 years in prison and up to $42,000 in fines, if convicted.

He remains free on an $800 cash bond.

• The court Thursday entered a plea of not guilty and scheduled a Jan. 20 district attorney conference for Joseph A. Lartz, 18, Monroe, who stood mute to charges of physical abuse of a child, battery and bail jumping.

Court records allege he grabbed a teen male by the neck and head-butted him, causing broken bones, Nov. 6 or Nov. 7 in Monroe. He was on bond criminal damage to property at the time of the incident.

He is charged with physical abuse of a child, a class H felony; battery, a class I felony; and bail jumping, a class A misdemeanor. He faces more than 10 years in prison and up to $30,000 in fines, if convicted.

He remains free on a $3,000 signature bond.

MISDEMEANORS

• The court Wednesday sentenced Randal D. Spohn, 50, Monroe, to three months in jail and 18 months probation after he pleaded no contest to battery.

He faced up to nine months in jail and up to $10,000 in fines as part of the plea agreement for the class A misdemeanor.

The court dismissed one count of disorderly conduct, a class B misdemeanor. He originally faced up to one year in prison and up to $11,000 in fines.

Court records indicate he pushed a woman to the floor July 2 in a Monroe residence.

• The court Thursday sentenced Scott E. Beenken, 37, Monroe, to three months in jail with work release privileges and three days credit after he pleaded no contest to theft.

He faced up to nine months in jail and up to $10,000 as part of the plea agreement for the class A misdemeanor.

The court dismissed two counts of theft, both class A misdemeanors. He originally faced more than two years in jail and up to $30,000.

Court records indicate he took a bottle of alcohol Feb. 7 from a Monroe business.
