On Monday, March 17:
Abiga J. Terrell, 28, Monroe, entered a plea of not guilty for a Class H Felony count of theft and two Class A Misdemeanor counts of theft, which, if convicted for the maximum penalty, Terrell could face up to six years and nine months in prison or a fine of $20,000 or both. According to court records, Terrell was charged with stealing more than $10,000 from Schulz Automotive in Monroe where he was employed from November of 2012 to November 2013. Terrell allegedly stole more than $9,000 from customers from the repair shop, allegedly stole at least $900 worth of inventory and property from the shop and allegedly scammed a customer for the title of a Volkswagen Jetta valued at $2,500. Terrell has a plea/sentencing hearing on June 9.
On Tuesday, March 17:
Miguel Angel Langarcia entered a plea of not guilty to two counts of felony bail jumping, both Class H felonies. Langarcia was charged with possessing an intoxicant and violating a restraining order stemming from an incident that occurred on Feb. 4. Langarcia was at a motel in the 500 block of 6th Street, where a woman who had a restraining order against him was in contact with him. He also violated bond by having alcohol. The restraining order was in effect from bond set over in a case where he is accused of sexually assaulting an unconscious victim and seriously hurting her. Langarcia allegedly punched a woman many times in the face, breaking her nose and sexually violated her in the bathroom of a friend's home. He has a pre-trial conference set for May 20.

Clyde L. Leverton, 42, Belleville, entered a plea of not guilty to three counts of domestic abuse-related aggravated battery, strangulation and false imprisonment, all Class H felonies, one count of intimidating a victim, a Class G felony, and four misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct, negligent handling of burning material, damage to property and possession of drug paraphernalia. Court records indicate Leverton allegedly beat a man, breaking his glasses, strangling him and cutting his hands with a serrated kitchen knife. Leverton was charged with allegedly hurting this man late at night on Feb. 5 into the early morning of Feb. 6 at a residence in the W3000 block of Wis. 92, Town of Exeter. Court records allege Leverton threatened to kill the man with a piece of firewood, but the victim had his glasses broken and was unable to identify whether Leverton had a knife. Deputies on scene found a knife stabbed into a dresser. Court records show the victim said to an officer, "I really thought he was going to kill me." Leverton allegedly strangled the man several times and locked him in a bedroom while attempting to light a roll of paper towels on fire. Leverton told an officer on scene that the man he allegedly hurt had been molesting him for years. The man denied those allegations. Police and deputies found a makeshift bong made out of aluminum foil in the kitchen. If convicted for the maximum penalty, Leverton could face up to 29 years and nine months imprisonment or $76,000 or both. Leverton has a pre-trial conference set for April 22.

Marcella N. Ingram, 36, Monroe, was found guilty of retail theft due to a no contest plea entered on Monday. Court records indicate Ingram worked as an accomplice to Luke T. Hassell and stole $445.56 worth of merchandise from Walmart in Monroe on Dec. 23. Together they took items like video games and boy's socks, and Ingram replaced her cellphone case with a stolen one. The two put the items into a Walmart plastic bag and were stopped by loss prevention staff in the foyer of the store. According to court records, Ingram told the staff member she "felt ashamed." Ingram owes the court $652.
Garret W. Smart, 20, Mineral Point, had two counts of resisting an officer dismissed on a prosecutor's motion. Smart was originally charged with resisting an officer on June 22. He faces no penalties due to dismissal of charges.
Christopher J. McGoff, 33, Monroe, had a $1,000 signature bond set with additional conditions that he have no violent contact with the alleged victim. McGoff was charged with two counts of domestic abuse-related disorderly conduct, battery and bail jumping, stemming from an incident that occurred on Feb. 9. McGoff has a pre-trial conference set for April 22.
