Green County
Felonies
Jeremiah W. Collins, 32, Browntown, was found guilty on July 26 after pleading no contest to a count of disorderly conduct, a class B misdemeanor, and a count of battery, a class A misdemeanor, stemming from a May 24, 2011 incident. Collins' case was a deferred prosecution and sentence, where he is to follow the prosecution agreement, which includes continuing counseling at the Family Counseling Center of Stephenson County in Freeport to prevent further law violations. He was fined $163.
Court records indicate that Collins intentionally open the door to the vehicle the victim retreated to and hit the victim in the back of the head, causing pain. He also returned to the house in which the victim was, backed her into a corner, grabbed her by the throat, and squeezed.
He then continued pushing her until she fell, then picked up a baby stroller, raised over his head as if to hit her, but instead hit the ceiling fan, breaking of a blade. He picked up the blade and hit the victim repeatedly with it and kicked her in the legs, causing further pain.
