FELONIES

- Anthony R. Anglin, 28, Monroe, pleaded no contest on Tuesday, Jan. 24, to a Class H felony charge of Medicaid fraud. Three more counts of the same charge were dismissed. A criminal complaint filed May 31 alleges Anglin knowingly made false statements between June 2009 and April 2010 in support of claims for Medicaid reimbursement related to transporting four patients with his ambulance service, Anglin's Transport Services, Inc. His sentencing hearing has been scheduled for 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, March 6.

MISDEMEANORS

- Shawn Michael Monroe, 41, Monticello, pleaded no contest and received a one-year deferred prosecution on Monday, Jan. 23, for misdemeanor charges of battery and disorderly conduct stemming from an Oct. 9 domestic dispute in Monticello. Felony charges of substantial battery, strangulation/suffocation and false imprisonment were dismissed on the prosecutor's motion. As part of Monroe's deferred prosecution agreement, the court ordered him to abide by any restraining order or no-contact injunction requested by the victim and undergo 20 weeks of twice-weekly counseling sessions.

- Debra A. Franklin, 43, Monroe, was cleared on Monday, Jan. 23, of a Class A misdemeanor charge of bail jumping stemming from an April 16 arrest in Monroe. The charge was dismissed on the prosecutor's motion, and Franklin was ordered to pay $579.50 for two traffic offenses that occurred in 2010.
