MONROE - Dustin Nicolas Deyo, 19, Monroe, pleaded no contest on Wednesday, Jan. 18, to a Class A misdemeanor of battery and was sentenced to 18 months of probation. The misdemeanor charge was downgraded from a Class I felony, and a Class B misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct was dismissed. The charges stem from a Sept. 24 incident in the 600 block of 3rd Avenue in Monroe. Court records indicate Deyo was arguing loudly and violently beat a male victim with a closed fist. The court has ordered Deyo to undergo anger management counseling and pay $243 in fines. If he successfully completes his probation, the charges will be expunged from his record, under a state law that grants leniency to certain offenders under the age of 21.
