FELONY
- Cody Walker Johnson, 20, Monroe, pleaded no contest and was convicted on Jan. 6 of multiple charges stemming from three incidents in 2011: a Sept. 30 Class I felony charge of possessing THC with intent to deliver; a Sept. 24 Class A misdemeanor charge of battery; and a Feb. 9 Class U misdemeanor charge of possessing THC. The prosecution dismissed misdemeanor charges of bail jumping, possession of THC and carrying a concealed weapon. Johnson was sentenced to 10 days in jail and a two-year probation/deferred prosecution, plus fined a total of $352. Conditions of his deferred prosecution include anger management counseling and an alcohol and drug assessment. He is also not allowed within 500 feet of an elementary, middle or high school, although court documents do specify that he may attend Blackhawk Technical College.
- Joshua William Golackson, 28, Monroe, was sentenced on Jan. 6 to 14 days in jail, a two-year probation, a two-year revocation of his driver's license and a one-year ignition interlock after he pleaded no contest to his third charge of driving while intoxicated, stemming from a May 13 arrest in Monroe. The prosecution dismissed a Class I felony charge, made during the same arrest, of possessing four pills of the narcotic oxycodone. The dismissal was issued on the condition that Golackson refrain for 18 months from consuming alcohol and controlled substances and comply with any recommendation based on his alcohol and drug assessment, including attendance of Alcoholics Anonymous or Al-Anon meetings. If he follows court orders for the 18-month conditional period, the case will be dismissed with prejudice. If not, it can be reopened for sentencing.
- Sean Michael McKichan, 38, Beloit, was convicted on Jan. 9 of his fourth charge of driving while intoxicated. He pleaded no contest to the Class H felony and was sentenced to nine months in jail with work-release privileges, two years of probation, a 30-month revocation of his driver's license and a one-year ignition interlock. He was also fined $1,735 and ordered to undergo an alcohol assessment. Court records indicate McKichan had a blood-alcohol concentration of .110 when he was arrested for DWI on May 26 on Wisconsin 11. His prior DWI convictions in Wisconsin stem from two arrests in 2007 and one in 2008.
MISDEMEANOR
- Daniel Edward Reynolds, Sr., 62, Monroe, was fined $316 on Jan. 5 for a Class B misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct stemming from a May 9 incident.
- Aaron A. Wenger, 30, Browntown, pleaded no contest and was sentenced on Jan. 6 to 45 days in jail, with Huber work-release privileges, for a Class A misdemeanor charge of endangering safety with a dangerous weapon during a May 7 domestic dispute. The prosecution dismissed misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and criminal damage to property. Wenger was also fined $243.
- Jerod E. Sandlin, 19, Brodhead, pleaded guilty and was fined $768 on Jan. 6 for two Class A misdemeanor charges of theft stemming from a Feb. 23 incident in Brodhead. The prosecution dismissed a felony charge of burglary and two misdemeanor charges of resisting or obstructing an officer. Court records indicate the theft charges will be expunged from Sandlin's record when his fine is paid in full, in consideration of a state statute that gives leniency to some offenders under the age of 21.
- James M. Frion, 34, Evansville, was sentenced to four days in jail and fined $316 after he pleaded no contest on Jan. 9 to a Class B misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct and a Class A misdemeanor charge of entering a building. Both charges stem from an Oct. 22 incident. Court records indicate Frion passed out drunk in the basement of a bar in Brooklyn. A misdemeanor charge of resisting or obstructing an officer was dismissed.
- Gregory Scott Luebke, Sr., 43, Monroe, was sentenced on Jan. 9 to two days in jail and fined $416 after he pleaded no contest to a Class B misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct stemming from an Oct. 2 incident. The prosecution dismissed charges of battery and false imprisonment.
- Nathan L. Wiesenberg, Jr., 35, Monroe, was fined $473.50 on Jan. 9 after he pleaded no contest to a charge of possessing two grams of marijuana stemming from an Aug. 6 arrest. The court downgraded the initial felony charge of THC possession and dismissed a misdemeanor charge of drug paraphernalia possession.
