Felonies

On Thursday:

• Amanda S. Harlson, 30, Darlington, was sentenced to two years of probation as a part of a deferred prosecution agreement for two counts of retail theft under $500. Harlson had a felony count of retail theft dismissed. Court records indicate that in September 2012, Harlson acted as a party to a crime to commit theft from Walmart in the 300 block of 6th Avenue. Harlson's son was working in the checkout lane at Walmart and would scan items and then void out the purchase before bagging the items and printing fraudulent receipts. For several weeks, Harlson went through her son's line and spuriously "bought" multiple electronics like computers, video games and other miscellaneous items along with several other people adding up to about $5,500 worth of merchandise.

• Aaron M. Harlson, 26, Darlington, was sentenced to two years of probation for three counts of retail theft. Harlson acted as a party to the crime listed above. Harlson owes a fine of $2,297.

• Harly F. Vander-Velden, 27, Monroe, was found guilty due to a no-contest plea of domestic abuse-related disorderly conduct on Wednesday; he also had counts of battery and strangulation dismissed. Vander-Velden owes a fine of $100. Court records indicate that on Aug. 10 Vander-Velden grabbed a woman by her neck and threw her to the ground where she hit her head on a rock. He also allegedly choked the woman before a witness pulled him off of the victim.

Misdemeanors

• Linda A. Hewitt, 55, Mount Horeb, was sentenced to one year of probation on Thursday as a part of a deferred prosecution agreement for a charge of resisting an officer. Hewitt also had charges of battery and disorderly conduct dismissed. Police reports indicate that on June 5, Hewitt spit on police officers while they were attempting to arrest her for being disorderly.

On Wednesday:

• Jason T. Meehan, 33, Orfordville, was found guilty due to a guilty plea of driving while intoxicated, second offense. Meehan also had counts of driving while revoked and driving with a prohibited blood-alcohol concentration dismissed. He was sentenced to 10 days in jail with work-release privileges, had his license revoked for 14 months, is ordered to undergo alcohol and other drugs assessment classes and is ordered to install an ignition interlock device for a period of one year upon relicensing. The charges stem from an incident that occurred in September 2013. Meehan owes a fine of $1,242.

• Kelly L. Ott, 33, Albany, was found guilty due to a no-contest plea of two counts of domestic abuse-related disorderly conduct; she also had counts of trespassing and invasion of privacy dismissed. Ott will serve 18 months of probation and is ordered to have no contact with the victims in this case. Court records indicate Ott swore and yelled at a woman through a window and door to a residence. When the victim exited the residence, Ott shoved the victim through a screen door. She owes a fine of $552.





Lafayette County Misdemeanors

On Wednesday:

• Timothy L. Demmer, 30, Platteville, had charges of DWI and driving with a PAC, both second offenses, dismissed on a prosecutor's motion. The charges stem from an incident that occurred in April 2013. Demmer owes no fines or penalties as the charges were dismissed. Demmer was found guilty due to a not-guilty plea for separate charges of driving with a PAC stemming from an incident that occurred in July 2013. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail with work-release privileges; he will have his license revoked for 16 months and install an IED for a period of 16 months upon relicensing. Demmer owes a fine of $1,494.

• Tony L. Gilbertson, 36, Argyle, was found guilty due to a guilty plea of DWI, third offense; he also had a count of driving with a PAC dismissed. Gilbertson was sentenced to 28 days in jail with work-release privileges, two years of probation, is barred from drinking, doing drugs or going to bars and liquor stores, is ordered to undergo AODA classes, have his license revoked for 30 months and is ordered to install an IED for a period of 30 months upon relicensing. Police reports indicate that in February 2013, Gilbertson rolled his vehicle into a ditch along Wisconsin 81, Town of Argyle. Gilbertson sustained injuries in the crash and was treated at the scene by Argyle EMS. Gilbertson owes a fine of $1,861.

• Jeffrey R. Kurschner, 32, Blanchardville, was found guilty due to a guilty plea of driving with a PAC, second offense, he also had a count of DWI dismissed. Kurschner was sentenced to 10 days in jail with work-release privileges, have his license revoked for 14 months and is ordered to install an IED for a period of 14 months upon relicensing. The charges stem from an incident that occurred on April 26. Kurschner owes a fine of $1,242.
