Green County Felonies
The court Tuesday sentenced Leslie A. Becker, 43, Winslow, to two years probation and 184 hours of community service after she pleaded no contest to wounding a tied animal and mistreating an animal.
She faced up to 18 months in jail and up to $20,000 in fines as part of the plea agreement for the class A misdemeanors.
One of the charges, mistreating an animal, was originally a class I felony. She originally faced more than four years in prison and up to $20,000 in fines.
Court records indicate that on July 4 she repeatedly stabbed a domesticated cat that was tied up in the backyard of a Monroe residence. The cat later died.
The court Tuesday scheduled a Feb. 12 plea hearing for Joel A. Hale, 34, New Glarus, who is charged with possessing a weapon, battery and disorderly conduct.
Court records indicate he had a rifle in his possession, grabbed a woman by the neck and slammed her head against a table Sept. 12 in a York township residence. He was convicted of battery and disorderly conduct in 2005.
He is charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, a class G felony, battery, a class A misdemeanor, and disorderly conduct, a class B misdemeanor, as a repeat offender. He faces up to 17 years in prison and up to $36,000 in fines, if convicted.
