Felonies

• Leo R. Dempewolf, 22, Sterling, Ill., was sentenced on Friday and will serve one year on probation as a part of a deferred prosecution agreement for a charge of resisting an officer; he also had counts of battery to an officer, disorderly conduct, battery and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia dismissed. The charges stem from an incident that occurred on Sept. 21. If Dempewolf complies with all conditions of the DPA the charge could be dismissed. Court records indicate during Cheese Days Dempewolf punched a police officer after fleeing from a tavern where he punched a bar patron. When staff from the bar pursued Dempewolf on foot, police caught up to them and tried to stop Dempewolf who wheeled around and punched a Stoughton Police officer in the face. The officer sustained minor injuries and was treated and released from the Monroe Clinic Hospital.
