Linda Michelle Swedlund, 40, Monroe, pleaded no contest Thursday, Jan. 24, to revoking her probation on multiple convictions of bail jumping from 2011. She was sentenced to nine months in jail. Court records indicate she violated her probation agreement on multiple occasions by drinking alcohol and was arrested in Monroe Nov. 24 on a second-offense charge of driving while intoxicated. Her blood-alcohol concentration at the time of her arrest was reportedly 0.21. Her probation agent concluded Swedlund's "main issues appear to be her alcohol dependency ... she clearly has not learned how to control her alcoholism."
Jason Albert Buttchen, 25, Brodhead, pleaded no contest Tuesday, Jan. 29, to a Class I felony charge of criminal damage to property worth more than $2,500. Court records indicate in April Buttchen climbed to the top of a water tower in Brodhead, and while up there, broke off and threw radio antennas onto the ground. He kept law enforcement in a two-hour standoff before agreeing to come down. Judge Thomas Vale granted him a two-year deferred prosecution with the conditions that he pay the court $268, pay $5,239.17 in restitution, seek counseling for alcohol abuse and attend quarterly monitoring conferences.
Edwin A. Negron, 36, address unknown, was charged Friday, Jan. 25, with four Class H felony counts of violating sex registry rules and one Class H felony count of using a different name as a sex offender. Court records indicate Negron failed to notify the state of address changes between 2008 and 2011. His aliases have included Roberto Rodrigues, Antonio Munquia and Juan Flores, as well as an alias date of birth, June 13, 1970. Negron is convicted of having sexual contact with a 15-year-old girl in Monroe in June 2001. His initial appearance is Feb. 1.
Carl James Lee Ebert, 22, address unknown, was charged Tuesday, Jan. 29, with a Class H felony of taking and driving a vehicle without the owner's consent and Class A misdemeanor counts of theft and neglecting a child. Court records indicate on Jan. 24, Ebert stole an Xbox and flatscreen television from his girlfriend's residence in the 1000 block of 21st Street in Brodhead and drove off in her 2007 Acura, leaving her 4-year-old son unsupervised in the home. The boy was alone three hours until relatives came home. The stolen Acura later rearended a Corvette in Lafayette County and fled the scene. Ebert is still at large and a warrant is issued for his arrest.

Kristina Emmaline Janisch, 18, New Glarus, pleaded guilty Thursday, Jan. 24, to a Class A misdemeanor charge of taking and "joyriding" a white 1995 Geo Metro around rural New Glarus on Nov. 10. A bailjumping charge was dismissed. She was granted a one-year deferred prosecution with the conditions that she pay the court $163, get her high school diploma or the equivalent, find a job that employs her at least 30 hours per week and attend quarterly monitoring conferences.
Michael M. Voelkli, 26, Madison, pleaded no contest Thursday, Jan. 24, to a forfeiture charge of disorderly conduct, downgraded from a misdemeanor. He was fined $330.50. Court records indicate he turned up at his mother's residence in the 2500 block of 13th 1/2 Avenue in Monroe on Oct. 13 with a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.301, yelled and swore at her and pounded on the garage door demanding to be let in.
Todd Allen Green, 37, Muscoda, pleaded no contest Friday, Jan. 25, to a Class A misdemeanor charge of battery and was granted a one-year deferred prosecution on the conditions that he pay the court $343, complete domestic violence or anger management counseling and attend quarterly monitoring conferences. Court records indicate that in August in a home in the 1500 block of East 2nd Avenue in Brodhead, he pulled out clumps of a woman's hair, pushed her down the basement stairs, hit her, grabbed her around the throat, threatened to kill her and grabbed her cellphone and hid it in the freezer. The woman ran barefoot to the Brodhead police station to report the incident. She had previously reported Green for giving her a black eye in March but had declined then to press charges.
