Charles G. Modaff age 85 of Monroe, formerly of the Monticello area, died Sunday, September 17, 2017 at Monroe Manor. He was born on April 4, 1932 in Lisle, Illinois, the son of Charles and Rose (Kiefler) Modaff. He graduated from Naperville High School in 1952. Charles married Marcella L. Hahn on August 8, 1953 in Cloverdale, IL. He worked as a dairy farmer, retiring in 2000. Charles was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Albany. He enjoyed playing softball and cards.
He is survived by 5 children: Thomas (Kristine) Modaff Sr. of Albany, James (Marcia) Modaff of Juneau, WI, Mark Modaff of Oregon, Susan (Gregory) Anderson of Rochester, MN, and Laura (Gary) Stietz of Monroe; 13 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; brother, Vincent Modaff of Lisle, IL; sisters: Ruth Anderson of Lisle, IL and Alma "Babe" McCabe, of La Salle, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marcella; grandson, Benjamin Stietz, 4 sisters, 2 half-sisters, and a brother.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 21, 2017 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Albany, with Fr. Mick Moon as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery. A visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Shriner Hager Gohlke Funeral Home.
