Charles A. "Sonny" Kundert Jr., age 84 of Juda, died Friday, January 6, 2012 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital.

Charles was born February 28, 1927 at the Deaconess Hospital in Monroe.

He graduated from Monroe High School in 1945. Charles and Dorothy A. Walrack were married on March 4, 1949 in Monroe. She preceded him in death on April 18, 2008.

Charles' passion was farming. He most recently farmed in Sylvester Township from 1969 until 1978 and was employed at Davis Implement from 1978 until retiring in 1998. He continued to go to his son's farm everyday until entering the hospital. He was an active member of the Zion United Methodist Church in Juda and was President of the Juda Sanitary District.

Charles loved spending time with his family, enjoyed playing Euchre, collecting toy farm machinery, and along with his wife were members of the Antique Wheelers Car Club.

He is survived by five children, Daniel (Jolene) Kundert of Juda, Gene (Holly) Kundert, Dianne (Steve) Holmes, Delroy Kundert (special friend, Martha Meritt) all of Monroe, Cheryl Bechtolt (fiance, Barney Losenegger) of Juda; 12 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; a sister, Nancy Shervey of Rockford, IL, and two sisters-in-law, Helen and Bev Kundert, both of Washington.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy; two sons, Daryl Kundert and Dale in infancy; two brothers, Richard "Bud" and Gareth Kundert; and a brother-in-law, Lee Shervey.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., at the Zion United Methodist Church in Juda. Rev.Vicki Brantmeyer will officiate with burial to follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe.

Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe. A memorial fund will be established in his name. To send an expression of sympathy go to www.newcomerfuneralhome.net
