Charlene M. Durtschi, age 85, of Monroe, Wisconsin, formerly of Monticello-Albany Area, died Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at her home. She was born on March 2, 1926 in Lamont, Lafayette County, WI, the daughter of Charles H. and Ethel V. (Stixrood) Putnam, and graduated from Argyle High School in 1943.

Charlene married Herman A. Durtschi on October 11, 1946 at East Wiota Lutheran Church and they farmed in Mt. Pleasant Township until they moved to Monroe in 1974. Charlene was the head cook for Albany Schools for 9 years and worked in Physical Therapy for St. Clare Hospital for 15 years. She was a member of Zwingli United Church of Christ in Monticello and their Women's Guild, was a Sunday School teacher for 9 years, and was a 4-H Club leader at Dutch Hollow & Silver View.

Surviving are her children, Donna K. (Dean) Ferguson of Monticello, Thomas H. (Rose) Durtschi of Albany, Susan R. (Joe) Washington of Denton, TX, Cynthia L. (Daryl) Miller of Monroe, & Carol L. (David Schad) Durtschi of White Bear Lake, MN; siblings, David (Darlyne) Putnam of Monroe and Carol (Ken) McWilliams of Cuba City; grandchildren, Cassie (Calvert) Morgan, Tori Miller, Melody (Bryon) Feller, Todd (Sara) Durtschi, Dustin Miller, Nikki Ferguson, and Shelley Ferguson; great-grandchildren, Alana and Ty Durtschi, Olivia and Evan Feller, and Kyle Pederson; and many nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; husband; sisters, Ann in infancy and Sandra Linnerud; and brothers, Robert, Charles, and Arthur Putnam.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, November 14, 2011 at Zwingli United Church of Christ, 416 E. Lake Street in Monticello with Rev. Lawrence Balleine and Pastor Mary Gafner officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe, WI.

Visitation will be from 2:30 to 5:30 P.M. Sunday, November 13, 2011 at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home 1455 Mansion Drive & N. 18th Avenue in Monroe and from 10:00 A.M. until time of service Monday at the Church.

A Memorial Fund is being established in Charlene's memory.
