Cause of house fire still undetermined

MONROE - The cause remains undetermined for a house fire on 13th Avenue that left an estimated $40,000 in damages, according to a news release from Fire Chief Daryl Rausch.

Firefighters were called to the bedroom fire at 1909 13th Ave. at 11:16 a.m. Wednesday, July 31.

Smoke was coming out of the roof eaves, and fire was visible inside when Deputy Fire Chief Lane Heins arrived on scene. The blaze was brought under control in eight minutes and contained to the bedroom area. No injuries were reported from the fire.

Heins found significant smoke damage to the entire house.

Crews remained on-scene for about two hours. Assisting at the scene were New Glarus firefighters, Alliant Energy, WE Energies, Monroe police and the Monroe Department of Public Works. Red Cross was contacted to assist the family.
