Carol J. Lantz
Carol J. Lanz, 79, of Hendersonville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on August 7, 2008 at Greenville Memorial Hospital, following a brief battle with cancer.

A native of Monticello and Monroe, she enjoyed creating Deco-art and quilting for many years and was a passionate gardener, lovingly surrounding their home with the many beautiful plantings native to the mountains of North Carolina. She was also an avid hiker, having hiked over 7,000 miles in the North Carolina mountains with her husband, Bud, as members of the "Pisgah Hikers Club."

A beloved wife, mother and grandmother, sister and aunt, surviving is her loving husband of 58 years, James "Bud" Lanz; three children, Suzon Lanz of Woodridge, IL, Cindy Kubly and her husband, Curt, of Nashville, TN, and Paul Lanz and his wife, Susan, of Madison, WI; 10 grandchildren, Lisa Moeller, Joshua Kubly, Niki Folven, Wendy Duffy, Meaghan Stafford, Connor Lanz, Aaron Kubly, Cade Kubly, Isabelle Lanz and Ava Folven; one brother, Arthur Blum and his wife, Betty, of Monroe; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. November 21, 2008 at Saint Johns United Church of Christ, with Pastor Mike Heath officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service, with coffee and light snacks being served.
