MONROE - Carol A. Wenger, age 70 of Monroe, died Sunday, September 19, 2010 as the result of an auto accident. She was born on February 17, 1940 in Monroe, the daughter of Nathan and Alice (Wichelt) Schoepfer. Carol married Ernest W. Wenger on September 21, 1958 at St. John's United Church of Christ. She worked for the Monroe Clinic Hospital in dietary aids, retiring in 2005. Carol was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ. She belonged to a local card club and a former member of the Women of the Moose. Carol enjoyed playing on the computer and visiting with people and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children, Dave Wenger, Mark Wenger, Tammy Wenger, all of Monroe; brother, Nathan (Debbie) Schoepfer of Evansville; nine grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her parents; husband; sister, Kathryn Olin; granddaughter, Ashley Strait and friend, Dick Christen.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 24, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at St. John's United Church of Christ, with Rev. Gretchen Sylvester officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe. A visitation will be held on Thursday, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home.
