Bonnie J. Wittwer age 71 of Monroe died Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at U.W. Hospital in Madison. Bonnie was born May 3, 1943 in Monroe, the daughter of Clarence "Casey" and Hilda (Burkhalter) Goecks. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1961 and married Morton Wittwer on September 16, 1962 at St. John's United Church of Christ, Monroe. Bonnie worked as a phone operator at United Telephone Company for several years following graduation and later was employed at East School. She worked for Wisconsin Community Bank in Monroe for 34 years before retiring. Bonnie was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ and Monroe Women of the Moose Chapter #599. She was a longtime member of Windy Acres and the Tuesday night ladies league. She also enjoyed bowling on the Wednesday night league at Turner Hall for many years, camping with her family and taking trips in the R.V., and getaways with Mort to Myrtle Beach and Branson.
Bonnie is survived by her husband of 52 years, Mort Wittwer; a daughter, Kim (Brad) Einbeck, all of Monroe; two grandchildren, Leslie (Daniel) Kaiser and Alex Einbeck; a brother, Roger (Sharyl) Goecks of Beloit; a special aunt, Gertrude Goecks of Monroe; a sister-in-law, Christie (Stuart) Strait of Monroe; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a daughter, Pamela Wittwer in 1980.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 17, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., at St. John's United Church of Christ, Monroe, with Rev. Todd Hackman officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe. A memorial fund will be established in Bonnie's name.
