SOUTH WAYNE - Betty M. Rygh, age 81 of rural South Wayne, WI, passed away Tuesday, November 2, 2010, at Community Living Home Options in Monroe, WI. She was born August 26, 1929 in Jordan Township in Green County, WI, the daughter of Lawrence and Ada (Hanson) Berg. Betty grew up in Jordan Township. She attended Mills Rural School and later graduated from Monroe High School in 1946. Betty was united in marriage to Arthur Rygh on October 17, 1948 at East Wiota Lutheran Church in rural South Wayne and recently celebrated their 62nd anniversary. Following their marriage, Betty and Art farmed in Wiota Township for over 50 years.

Betty is survived by her husband: Art at Community Living Home Options; three children: Steven (Anita) Rygh and Mark (Marlene) Rygh both of rural South Wayne, and Martha Pfaff of Mount Horeb, WI; seven grandchildren: Andrea (Nick) Capaul, Allison Rygh, Ryan and Rachel Rygh, Justin (Vanessa), Stephanie, and Lincoln Pfaff; and one sister-in-law: Edna Berg of Monroe, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers: Freeman and Harry Berg.

Betty was baptized and confirmed at Jordan Lutheran Church. She was a very active member of Wiota Lutheran Church, past president of its WELCA, member of Lois Circle, the church sewing group and American Legion Auxiliary Post #251 of Argyle. In the late 1950s and 1960s she was active in the Cherry Branch Rural School Mothers Club. Betty had a number of interests; some of which were spending time with her family, working in her flower garden, historical scrapbooking, and collecting glassware. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all that knew her.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, November 6, 2010, at 11:00 A.M. at East Wiota Lutheran Church, 10311 Highway 78, South Wayne, WI with Rev. Connie Matye of Peace Lutheran Church in Belmont, WI officiating. Burial will be in East Wiota Cemetery in rural South Wayne. A visitation will be held Friday, November 5, 2010, from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Erickson Funeral Home, 60 Breeze Terrace in Argyle, WI.
