Betty J. Kundert, age 74 of Monroe, died Sunday, January 20, 2008 at Pleasant View Nursing Home following a brief illness. Betty was born December 24, 1933 in Darlington, Wisconsin, the daughter of Henry and Mamie (Shager) Garrison. After graduating from Darlington High School in 1953, Betty moved to Monroe and worked for the Harold Scherer family and later was employed at the Tot Shop.

Betty and Karl R. "Dick" Kundert were united in marriage on July 20, 1957 at the E.U.B. Church in Monroe. Betty worked with her husband at Kundert-Loeffel Shoes until retiring in 1993.

She was a member of the Monroe United Methodist Church and various church Bible studies. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, working with flowers, bird watching, sewing, and meeting new people. Betty also enjoyed volunteering at the Monroe Clinic Hospital.

Survivors include her husband, Dick Kundert of Monroe; a son, Richard K. (Libby) Kundert of Fort Collins, CO; a daughter, Mary Ann Kundert of Monroe; a brother, Gary (Veronica) Garrison of Darlington; and a sister, Ardith Witt of Black Earth.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Carl "Bud" Garrison.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. at the Monroe United Methodist Church with Rev. David Busker officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from noon until the time of service. Coffee and cake will be served following the funeral service in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established in Betty's name for the Monroe United Methodist Church. The NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, Monroe, is assisting the family.
