Betty J. Balsiger, age 79, Monroe, died peacefully surrounded with family by her side May 5, 2009.
Betty was born in Rock County July 29, 1929 to Carl and Sadie (Thostenson) Hafen.
She was united in marriage to Albert J. Balsiger on January 22, 1948. They farmed together in Spring Grove Township. He passed away April 7, 1999.
She moved to Monroe in 1999. She enjoyed feeding the birds year round. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, knitting and crocheting. She loved to draw and paint and belonged to the Spectrum Art Club and former Oakley Homemakers and Monroe Garden Club.
They were blessed with three sons, Walter (Rosie), Ron (Marty), and Tim (Melody); nine grandchildren, Sheila (Shane) Slater, Becky (Steven) Henricks, Ryan (Michelle) Balsiger, Tony Balsiger, Michele (Brad) Stewart, Andrea Balsiger, Tad, Jake and Jamie Balsiger; seven great-grandchildren, Courtney, Paige, Garrett, Tyler, Jake, Tyler, Miracle; aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Roberts, Florence Swinson, and Esther Gobeli; and brother-in-law, Leon Balsiger.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a brother, James and sister, Nancey.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 8, 2009 at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home with Reverend William T. Mike Heath officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service on Friday.
A memorial fund will be established in Betty's name.
